Our Mission
To create a fun and transparent building experience that changes the perception of what construction can be, one project at a time.
Our Vision
To deliver the ultimate building experience. Construction can be hectic, there are many decisions, and high stress but it doesn’t have to be. We wanna change that. We focus on our Clients expectations, build a lasting rapport, and plan to nurture the relationship into the future.
Our Story
Willis Bailey and Matthew Dent met 35 years ago in Watsonville, CA. In High school, the two friends joked about starting a construction company, fast-forward to today, Bailey Dent Holding Co. was created to change the way construction can be done. Construction was instilled in both men from a young age, Willis learned under his father’s wing before eventually branching out on his own, and Matthew went off to school before going hands on into the trades.
Meet Willis
Construction has been part of Willis’s life for as long as he can remember. A fifth-generation Santa Cruz County resident, Willis grew up spending time on job sites while his father developed hundreds of homes throughout the county. Those early years gave him a front-row seat to what great building looks like—and the kind of work ethic it takes to do it right.
After decades of hands-on experience and mentorship from some of the best builders Santa Cruz County has produced, Willis brings a high standard of craftsmanship, detail, and professionalism to every project. His goal is simple: build quality work, communicate clearly, and leave every customer proud of the finished product.
Willis is passionate about construction, but his greatest purpose is his family—his wife, daughter, and two stepsons—who inspire him every day.
Meet Matthew
Matthew grew up in the Watsonville foothills surrounded by apple orchards and family ties deeply rooted in the trades. His father, uncle, and grandfather’s construction career paths would greatly influence Matthew’s future. His childhood home and grandparents’ properties were constant building sites after being destroyed by the earthquake. This fueled his early love for construction, living through the process, hearing stories, and allowed for hands-on exposure.
Encouraged by his uncle to pursue education rather than enter the trades directly, Matthew became the first in his family to attend college. He earned a B.S. in Construction Management from Chico State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Over the past two decades, he has held key executive roles overseeing more than $1 billion in commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. He also spent nearly 10 years as a Board member overseeing a $60M operation with nearly a $1 billion in assets. Matthew believes he can build faster, better, and less expensive than others due to his time with C.C. Myers, Inc. and later Granite Rock Company. For the last eight years Matthew has focused on luxury residential homes in the Lake Tahoe area working along side DFC Tahoe and more recently Crestwood Construction, Inc.
Matthew is passionate about his work and enjoys navigating complex issues while having fun. He draws motivation from his wife Tara and their two boys, striving to balance the hard work with family time and adventures traveling between South Santa Cruz County, Incline Village (Lake Tahoe), and San Jose del Cabo, Baja.
